Professor David Wilson meets Bert Spencer, who was the number one suspect in the murder of a 13-year-old newspaper boy but was never charged.

Bert is interviewed again by Professor Wilson and agrees to return to Staffordshire to visit the scene of the crimes. Bizarre behavior ensues.

Barbara was Bert’s secretary 38 years ago and provided his alibi. She is interviewed and casts doubt over his whereabouts that day.
